MoMoCo Members
Thanks to those who came out last night, and to our
presenters StormPeak Innovations and EffectiveUI. For those of you that could
not make it out, we look forward to seeing you at the next meeting.
To recap, StormPeak Innovations discussed their incubator, the
upcoming summer session, and had special guests from their last session, MobileXware
(who they met at MoMoCo in the fall). I would encourage you to take a look at
their program, especially if you have a boot-strapped company today and are
looking for help to bring it to the next level. You can learn more at www.stormpeakinnovations.com.
Juan Sanchez from EffectiveUI did a great job of walking us
through a case study, challenges, and lessons learned when working on the
mobile user interface for applications and services. I think many walked away
with an appreciation for the difficulty and thought process you need to go
through when designing the best possible interaction with a customer and not
just creating a feature rich platform. I think the best statement of the night
was from Juan that many times “Design supersedes functionality”.
Juan has graciously offered to let us post his presentation on our site, which
we will make available shortly. If you are building an application and have UI
questions the EffectiveUI team has and is doing some extremely cool stuff on
many devices, including the new iPad.
Our next meeting will be on May 17th, and the
topic will be Mobile Social Networking. We have Brightkite, SHUB.me, and Zerista
presenting three different approaches that address different areas of the
market. This is a hot topic these days with many wondering how their applications
and services should interact with their social customers. Should be a great
event and we hope to see you there.
Finally, we will soon send a survey to you all investigating
the possibility of alternating meetings with Denver every other month, or even
adding another meeting if it made sense. We are really trying to build a solid
community that you all can leverage and we do not want to dilute what has
already been created, so I ask you all to answer honestly so we can be sure to
do what is best for the collective mobile technology community in Denver and
Boulder alike.
Cheers!
