The June meeting last week was another success. I want to
thank Nigel Thompson, VP of Cloud Services from Good Technology and the Founder/CEO
of Cloudsync (acquired by Good earlier this year) for a very dynamic and
informative presentation and discussion. The mobile enterprise topic was a
departure from the consumer centric meetings we have had in the past, and was
done purposely. We believe that in order to be successful in your businesses,
it is best to understand the entire mobile ecosystem. I think it was surprising
for many in the audience to see some of the mobile trends Nigel spoke about,
including how much consumer behavior is driven by the enterprise. If your employer
is driving what device/platform you can use, that has implications on how you
will use it!
Finally, the July 19th meeting is going to be a very
exciting one. We will have Dion Almaer, Managing Director of Developer
Relations at Palm (soon to be HP). Dion is a Techstars mentor, a celebrity in
the AJAX community (as the co-founder of Ajaxian.com), and previously held
senior positions within Mozilla and Google. With the HP acquisition set to
close in July, Dion will be talking about how the largest consumer device company
in the world will be integrating WebOS into various product lineups including
tablets, and intelligent printers. He will talk about the direction of the
WebOS platform specifically and the future of mobile and the web.
I would really encourage you to sign-up for this event,
as the HP/Palm tie up is sure to be impactful on the industry and we hope to
put Denver/Boulder at the forefront of that opportunity!
Cheers!
Jason Stout
