I've been involved in researching and reporting on the mobile-communications industry since 1986. I spent 4 1/2 years as Principal Analyst-Mobile Americas at Informa Telecoms & Media but have returned to being an independent researcher and writer.

I've run into a number of old friends in the wireless biz at these meetings and have made several new contacts. As a freelance writer who covers the industry for FierceWireless' e-books and also writes white papers and PR material for corporate clients, I find that these types of small, educational group meetings are invaluable.
